fire pump

A fire pump system is a key part of a water-based fire protection system. It increases the pressure of a water source when it’s not enough for the system it’s supplying.

Fire pumps work by:

  1. Taking water from the water supply
  2. Increasing the pressure
  3. Delivering the water via the pipe system to the fire sprinklers
  4. Suppressing the fire

Fire pumps are typically powered by electricity, steam, or combustible fuel. They have three main parts:

  • Speed increaser/pump transmission
  • Impeller shaft assembly
  • Pump body
